KINGMAN – On – Aug. 17, National Nonprofit Day (NND) recognized the goals and positive impacts nonprofits have on communities and the world.
Even here in Mohave County there are many non-profit organizations really making a difference. Do you know how many non-profits there are? Do you know what they do? Non-profits are supported by donors, grants and individuals like you. How can you help? Money is always needed but volunteers are also the foundation on which these organizations survive.
Let me just review what the JAVC does; it receives individual assistance requests and make decisions based on merit and works with Stand Downs and Veterans Resource Fairs. The JAVC works with Veterans Treatment Court operates a “Hand up” Transitional Housing program for Homeless Veterans that identifies and works on removing barriers. Also, the JAVC looks for housing and employment is needed. “We have a current Tiny Home project in collaboration with the GEO group and partial financing by a well-known foundation. We have already completed three on these homes. We have helped more than 3,000 military veterans and their direct families.
Non-profits take some of the burden imposed on community services and at a better cost. Should you want to donate to the JAVC please click on the link: https://javc.org/donation-form/. We are all in this together! Thanks for your ongoing support.
The Veterans Administration has announced a goal of reducing Veterans’ homelessness by 38,000. What can you do to help? Please call (928) 716-3001.
