Havasu goes full throttle with packed April event calendar

Lake Havasu City is gearing up for a non-stop, high-octane April overflowing with events and activities for all interests and ages. From boating expositions to live concerts, custom car shows to theatrical productions, this vibrant community is the place to be for extraordinary entertainment all month long. Here’s a look at the can’t-miss happenings:

London Bridge Renaissance Faire (April 5-7)
Opening the month from April 5th-7th is the 7th annual London Bridge Renaissance Faire at the Friends of the Fair Rodeo Grounds at SARA Park. This dazzling festival transports guests back to the medieval era from 12pm-9pm on Friday, 10am-10pm on Saturday (18+ after 6pm) and 10am-5pm on Sunday. Revel in the pageantry with colorfully-costumed performers, musicians, jesters and more bringing history to life on stage and roaming the streets. Explore the lively Marketplace, feast on turkey legs at the Troll Under the Bridge Tavern, and let the kids escape to the Pirate’s Cove – all for ticket prices ranging from free for kids to $25 for adults.

Fishing Tournaments Galore (April 6)
Anglers will be hooked on April 6th with a trio of major fishing events around Lake Havasu. The Southwest Kayaks Fishing Open at various launch sites allows enthusiasts to compete in an open kayak bass tournament for a $20 entry fee. The New Horizons Pro Am Bass Tournament raising funds for people with disabilities launches from the Havasu Riviera Marina in the morning. You can also watch elite paddlers from 7am-3pm at Rotary Community Park for the free 5th Annual Havasu Heat Outrigger Race as they race in outrigger canoes and on stand-up paddleboards along the lake.

Lake Havasu High School Band Hollywood Knights Concert (April 6)
On the evening of April 6th from 5-7pm, the talented student musicians of the Lake Havasu High School Band will take center stage at the Lake Havasu High School Performing Arts Center for their “Hollywood Knights: A Night of Music” concert. Support the next generation of performers as they showcase their skills in this special themed event. Admission is free.

Lake Havasu Symphonic Winds 25th Anniversary (April 7)
Music lovers can celebrate 25 years of classical melodies on April 7th from 3-5pm when the Lake Havasu Symphonic Winds present their special “Cleaning Out the Sock Drawer” Anniversary Spring Concert at the Lake Havasu Performing Arts Center & Little Theater. The 32-piece ensemble’s performance promises an unforgettable evening of musical excellence.

Havasu Top Chef (April 11)
The kitchen heat gets turned up on April 11th from 5:30-9pm for the fierce Havasu Top Chef competition at the London Bridge Renaissance Faire grounds at SARA Park. Eight local restaurant chefs will battle it out in quick-fire challenges with mystery ingredients as foodies indulge in delicious appetizers along with craft beer and wine. Attendees can vote for the “People’s Choice” winner in this delectable celebration of Havasu’s dining scene.

Havasu Meltdown (April 12-14)
This annual custom car and truck show will make Windsor Beach at Lake Havasu State Park sizzle April 12th-14th from 12pm-11pm on Friday/Saturday and 10am-6pm on Sunday. Gearheads can feast their eyes on some of the hottest minitrucks and eye-catching vehicles, plus live music, a variety of vendors, food, drinks and more. General admission is $25 cash at the gate. Concurrent with the Meltdown is Grace Arts LIVE Theater’s production of the musical “Peter Pan” at their venue at 2146 McCulloch Blvd N with shows at 7:30pm Fridays/Saturdays and 2pm Sundays (tickets $15-$28).

Lake Havasu Farmers Market (April 13 & 27)
For a taste of local flavors and goods, don’t miss the free Lake Havasu Farmers Market on April 13th and again on the 27th from 8am-12pm at The KAWS on 2144 McCulloch Blvd N. Browse stalls overflowing with fresh produce, baked goods, handicrafts and more from Arizona vendors and artisans.

Lake Havasu Ballet presents “Noah’s Ark” (April 13-14)
The Lake Havasu Ballet company will premiere their all-new, original production “Noah’s Ark” at the Lake Havasu High School Performing Arts Center. Catch this whimsical, family-friendly ballet bringing the classic biblical tale to life through breathtaking choreography and costumes on April 13th at 7pm ($10-$20) and April 14th at 2pm ($10-$20).

Lake Havasu Boat Show (April 16-21)
Boating aficionados and shoppers will want to cruise on over to the massive Lake Havasu Boat Show at the Havasu Riviera Marina from 12-6pm April 16th-20th and 10am-3pm on April 21st. This free showcase allows attendees to check out all the latest watercraft models, accessories and marine equipment. The weekend also features the thrilling Super Cat Fest West April 19th-21st, with elite pro powerboat racing teams competing at blistering speeds on the waters of Lake Havasu.

REALTOR® Olympics Events (April 20-21)
The local REALTOR® community gets in on the athletic action with the Thelma Mayworm Memorial Bowling event on April 20th from 11:30am-8pm (location TBA). Then on April 21st from 5:30-10pm, they’ll host the classic Havasu Cars Drive-In Movie Night at Havasu 95 Speedway at SARA Park, allowing visitors to revisit nostalgic Americana under the starry skies for just $5 cash at the gate.

Desert Storm Powerboat Insanity (April 23-28)
This weeklong, high-octane spectacle takes over the Lake Havasu area with the Desert Storm Performance Boating Street Party on April 23rd from 1-9pm featuring live music and vendors lining the streets. Then on April 25th at 11am, the Parade of Power gives spectators a glimpse of the awesome boats before the big Desert Storm Shootout on April 27th from 9am-3pm as racing teams push their limits for record-breaking speeds on the waters of Lake Havasu. Rounding out the excitement on April 25th is the Hair Nation Rocks Havasu concert from 7-11pm at a venue TBA.

High-Octane Racing (April 27-28)
The final weekend of April offers a double dose of adrenaline with the Havasu 95 Speedway Race on April 27th from 7-11pm at the racetrack in SARA Park featuring fearless pro drivers pushing their machines to the limit. Visitors can get in on the excitement themselves April 28th from 10am-5pm with the Escape the City Mobile App Experience, an interactive adventure putting your driving skills to the test around Lake Havasu City.
