LAKE HAVASU CITY – The fourth annual Tourism Awards Luncheon by Go Lake Havasu, the official destination marketing and management organization for Lake Havasu City, took place on May 10. This event recognized professionals who have significantly contributed to the growth of local tourism during the National Travel and Tourism Week (May 7-13, 2023).

Celebrating the Rising Star and the Spirit of Tourism

Jillian Usher, Executive Director of the Lake Havasu Museum of History, received the Rising Star award for her efforts to engage youth in curating special exhibits and her positive attitude. Shawna Schneikart, Executive Director of the Lake Havasu Hospitality Association, was honored with the Spirit of Tourism award for her contribution in fostering partnerships with local restaurants and facilitating the Certified Tourism Ambassador program.

Bestowing the Tourism Professional of the Year Award

The prestigious Tourism Professional of the Year award was shared between Kristina Gallo, Assistant General Manager at London Bridge Resort, and Kenny Samp, Co-owner of Sunset Charter and Tour Co. Their passionate leadership and exceptional service in their respective fields were commended during the ceremony.

The Awards Ceremony: A Gathering of Local Tourism Leaders

The awards were presented during a luncheon held at Shugrue’s Restaurant and Bakery, a beloved local establishment serving Lake Havasu City for over 30 years. The recipients were selected by a committee of local tourism professionals based on nominations from their peers.
