September 2023

When it’s time to take a break from office work, September events are ramping up as temperatures cool. Here are some September highlights:

• American Bass Association Tournament, Sept. 16, 2023, Lake Havasu State Park – Enjoy the weather, beauty and great fishing at Lake Havasu. Perfect for motorized anglers, the tournament costs just $40 for registration and is free to spectators.

• Jet Jam PWC Championship, Sept. 16-17, 2023, North Beach, Lake Havasu State Park – Officially, they’re known as personal watercraft (PWC), but most people still call them JetSkis: a brand name owned by Kawasaki. Either way, the action is world-class when world champion riders descend to compete for titles and personal glory on the waters of Lake Havasu at North Beach at Lake Havasu State Park. And for amateur riders, it’s a proving ground to test their abilities.

• Lake Havasu Home and Garden Expo, Sept. 22-23, 2023, Lake Havasu City Aquatic Center – The annual home show features more than 70 home and garden vendors showcasing state-of-the-art products for indoor and outdoor use. Learn more about home furnishings, artwork, flooring, insulation, HVAC, security systems, windows and doors, and smaller products such as clothing, handmade soaps and jewelry. Realtors, insurance agents, mortgage brokers, landscapers, general contractors and jewelers will also be available. Food vendors are on-site, and free parking is plentiful.

• You’re Simply the Best: Tribute to Tina Turner, Sept. 22, 2023, London Bridge Resort Convention Center – This benefit tribute concert for the Havasu Community Health Foundation features the Motown Blossoms performing a record-breaking string of Motown favorites by The Marvelettes, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, The Shirelles, Martha Reeves and The Van Dellas, plus many more. This talented cast of performers has performed internationally as a group and individually on the main stages up and down the Vegas Strip, in Atlantic City casinos and as far away as Thailand. Come for an enjoyable evening of music as they pay tribute to the superstars, including the incomparable Tina Turner –  sounding, looking and performing pitch-perfect live vocals backed by a band that rocks the house.

• U.S. Freestyle PWC Championship, Sept. 30, 2023, London Bridge – September is a big month for PWC competition, concluding with the Freestyle Personal Watercraft Association (FPWCA) IJSBA-sanctioned (International Jet Sports Boating Association) event Fall Round of 2022 P1 Racing Fuels U.S. Freestyle Championships taking place Sept. 30 under the world-famous London Bridge. The U.S. PWC Freestyle Championship is the tour that separates freestyle competition from high-speed racing on personal watercraft. Riders perform in two-minute routines and are judged on variety, difficulty, execution, flow and number of tricks by a select panel of judges.
