LAUGHLIN – Caesars Foundation donated $15,000 to River Fund, Inc. for Laughlin residents who need help due to an emergency or crisis situation.
River Fund President and CEO, Mike Conner, said, “our goal is to use the money to set up a Laughlin Community Social Services Fund that can keep helping Laughlin residents for many years to come.”
River Fund exists to provide services on both sides of the Colorado River “but the lack of Laughlin-specific funding has limited the organization’s ability to provide enough assistance in the Laughlin area since much of the funding we receive goes to the larger community we serve with higher population numbers,” said Conner.
“The need is so much greater in Bullhead City because of the larger population and, because of the type of grants we receive, much of the money we receive can only be used in Arizona.
“Making the fund sustainable is the objective, with plans for online and in-person fundraising campaigns to match the $15,000 grant and, hopefully, spark a new source of income directed specifically for Laughlin,” Conner explained.
Updates have been made to the Laughlin Town Advisory Board’s website to offer options for donors to support the fund with secure online contributions.
Laughlin’s demographics differ from other neighboring communities in the Colorado River region, with residents that include financially secure retirees, working-class families and those living below the poverty line.
Caesars Foundation is a private foundation funded by resorts owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment, including Harrah’s Laughlin Beach Resort and Casino and Tropicana Laughlin. The foundation funds national and local nonprofit programs and projects in the communities where their employees and their families live and work.
To date, Caesars Foundation has contributed more than $80 million to various charitable organizations.
