City Prepares for 40th Birthday Bash

August 2024

Press Release | August 2024

BULLHEAD CITY, AZ., August 16, 2024 – The City of Bullhead City is gearing up for a Birthday Bash unlike any in its soon-to-be 40 years of existence. The City’s 40th Birthday bash will be all day at Community Park, 1251 Highway 95.

“The excitement is building,” said Karen Spletzer, Bullhead City Administration Analyst and lead planner for the event. “Our 40th Birthday Bash will be a celebration you won’t want to miss!”

Parking at Community Park will be free for anyone who enters the park all day, and no reservations will be required to access the ramadas.

“It’s going to be a full day of fun and excitement to celebrate 40 years of history,” said Bullhead City Manager Toby Cotter. “Our community has grown and thrived over the years, and this celebration gives everyone a chance to enjoy Community Park and all it has to offer, along with great food and entertainment.”

The River Shop, located inside the lower level of the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce, will open at 6:00 a.m. and have all inventory marked for sale at 40% off!

“You won’t want to miss these amazing deals on our best-selling items, including easy-up tents, inflatables, and unique Bullhead City apparel,” said Bullhead City Marketplace General Manager Canden Stanley. “We’re excited to offer 40% off to celebrate 40 years.”

At 10:00 a.m., one 45-foot-tall and two 25-foot-tall inflatable water slides will be available for kids just east of the large ramada. At the same time, parents can enjoy the shade and water underneath multiple nearby tents, including one large enclosed and air-conditioned cooling station with seating for 100 people. The cooling station will be open until the event ends, providing respite from the summer heat.

Beginning at 10:30 a.m., the sprinkler row will open west of the dog park, providing another fun place for kids to run around and cool off while having fun celebrating the City’s big day.

“Between the river, the splash pad, the giant water slides, and the sprinkler row, it’s going to be a splashtastic birthday bash!” Cotter said.

At 11 a.m., a fantastic array of food trucks just north of the large ramada will begin serving customers, including Honey Paws, Frozen Dreams, Crepe Guy, Charlie’s Pizza, Infuze Energy, Awesome Snow Cup, El Chaparro, Mohave Mike’s Concessions and Puffergz. The Bullhead Belle will also open at 11 a.m. and serve an appropriately themed special event menu of Cool Ranch Walking Tacos for 84 cents each, soft drinks for 84 cents, and two-burger meal deals for $19.84. From delicious treats to savory delights, there’s something for everyone to enjoy throughout the day.

The Bullhead City Morning Kiwanis will open a beer garden under the large ramada at noon. The garden will serve adult beverages until the festivities end.

“We’re grateful for everything Kiwanis does for Bullhead City,” said Cotter. “The beer garden will be a fundraiser for their club, and Kiwanis reinvests those funds into our community with projects like free swim lessons for young children and improvements to the splash park.”

At 3 p.m., DJ Loke and special guests will take the main stage under the large ramada, providing musical entertainment for the crowd. At the same time, the kids’ crafting stations, free face painting, and a balloon artist will all be available for kids to enjoy under the large ramada.

Popular 80’s Tribute band The Spazmatics will first take the stage at 4:20 p.m. to electrify the crowd with the best hits from the decade of the City’s inauguration. The first performance will last until 5 p.m.

The Dot Foods Free Food Pavilion will open at 5 p.m. and serve free hot dogs, chips, popcorn, and water while supplies last.

“We’re so grateful to Dot Foods for providing enough free food for the first 2,500 people,” said Bullhead City Sponsorship Coordinator Jackie Jensen. “They are a great partner of the City, and we’re thankful for their contributions to elevate this event!”

The Spazmatics will return to the stage at 5:30 p.m. and perform until 6:10 p.m. Following shortly behind at 6:15 p.m., crowds will be treated to thrilling professional wakeboarding and jet ski performances and demonstrations on the Colorado River in front of the large ramada.

At 6:50 p.m., The Spazmatics will return to the main stage for one final evening performance, bringing the crowd back to 1984 and preparing everyone for the grand finale.

At 7:25 p.m., crowds will be amazed by the evening Hydro Flight Water Show finale on the river performed by professionals Sean Ray and Lena Camargo. The special performance will involve stunning acrobatics and fireworks.

“Bring your family, invite your friends, and be part of something extraordinary,” said Spletzer. “We’ll have lots of entertainment and giveaways all day long.”

“The City’s 40th Birthday Bash promises to be a memorable day filled with entertainment, delicious food, and endless fun for the entire community,” added Cotter.
