Bullhead City Maintenance and Capital Improvement Projects Week of October 7

October 2024

BULLHEAD CITY, AZ., October 4, 2024 – City of Bullhead City staff and contractors will be working on the following projects throughout our city during the week of October 7:

  • Bullhead City Utilities will close the outside northbound lane of Highway 95 near Turquoise Rd on Monday at 6 a.m. to repair a water line. The work is expected to last several hours. Northbound traffic in the area will be reduced to one lane and may be diverted into the median.
  • City street maintenance crews will continue slurry sealing the shoulders of the Bullhead Parkway as part of the City Street Maintenance Program (CSMP) of 2024-2025. For the complete schedule and list of streets to receive slurry or microsurface treatment as part of the City Street Maintenance Program, visit bullheadcity.com/csmp.
  • McCormick Construction will begin installing a raised median with street lights along the Bullhead Parkway between Silvercreek Rd and Laredo Dr. The project is administered by the Arizona Department of Transportation as a grant-funded Highway Safety Improvement Project (HSIP).
  • The Rotary Park Dog Park is closed for maintenance. A temporary dog park is set up in an area of Rotary Park known as Birthday Park just southwest of the intersection of Balboa Dr and Riverview Dr. The dog park is expected to reopen in a few weeks.
  • The Basketball Court at Ken Fovargue Park is closed for maintenance while crews install artificial turf around it. The turf will extend the lifespan of the court and playground surfaces by preventing irrigation water from settling on them. The amenities are expected to reopen in a few weeks.
  • City Park Maintenance Crews have begun reseeding sports fields at Rotary Park. The process involves scalping the fields to put the summer Bermuda grass into dormancy so that winter grass seed can sprout. The process will take several months, and the scalped fields will look yellow and brown before the winter grass is established.
  • The Optimum Community Center will be closed as the facility is under construction. As part of the larger project, Perco Rock Company of Salt Lake City, Utah, is expanding the parking to add approximately 400 parking stalls. The parking lot expansion will be ongoing for several months.
  • T.R. Orr Inc. will continue working to expand the Bullhead Senior Enrichment Center. The new senior campus expansion will add 9,000 square feet of space to the building, including 7,700 square footage of indoor activity and meeting space and 1,300 square feet of covered outdoor patio space. The City expects to begin expanding the parking lot soon. Construction is expected to wrap up in November of 2024.
  • A contractor will be rehabilitating the 18-1 lift station located just Southeast of the intersection of Highway 95 and Laughlin Ranch Blvd. The project involves installing paneling made of Predl material to protect the well from corrosion and other enhancements to prolong the system’s lifespan. 18-1 is the third of three lift stations that needed and have now received this rehabilitation.
  • Contractors working on behalf of Bullhead City Utilities will be completing asphalt and concrete repairs around the City in places where recent water line repairs were made.
  • McCormick Construction, under contract with the City of Bullhead City, is working to construct a new ATV/UTV parking lot to serve as a trailhead for the Arizona Peace Trail just southeast of the intersection of Bullhead Parkway and Silver Creek Rd.
  • Precise Builders is remodeling the former Mohave Valley Daily News building into the new Bullhead Animal Resource Center. The facility, which will feature expanded capacity, a veterinary clinic, a dog washing station, a pet crematorium, and more, is expected to open in the summer of 2025.
  • City Street Maintenance Crews will be sweeping streets in various neighborhoods in preparation for slurry maintenance.
  • City Street Maintenance Crews will continue crack-sealing streets in the neighborhoods of Chaparral and Palo Verde Meadows in preparation for slurry treatment.
  • Bullhead City Utilities is replacing a motor and pump for a well in the Sun Ridge neighborhood.
  • Crews will be operating near the intersection of Rainbow Dr and Easy St in preparation for an asphalt repair. The paving project is scheduled to begin the Week of October 14.
