August heats up with exciting events across the Tri-State area

As summer reaches its peak, the Tri-State area is buzzing with an array of events to keep residents and visitors entertained throughout August 2024. From high-octane racing to serene art classes, there’s something for everyone in Bullhead City, Laughlin, Lake Havasu City, and beyond.
Weekly Highlights
Every Thursday night at 6:30 PM, trivia buffs can test their knowledge at the Miracle Mile Event Center’s 12-week Trivia Tournament. With teams of up to six competing for nightly prizes and a share of the $1,000+ total prize pot, it’s a brain-teasing way to kick off the weekend. Reserve a table for the entire tournament for just $20.
Fridays from 10 AM to 11:30 AM bring creativity to the forefront with “Friday Fun Crafts” at the Bullhead City Senior Campus. These morning sessions offer a perfect opportunity for seniors to socialize and explore their artistic side.
Saturday mornings are a treat for early risers and bargain hunters alike. Kingman’s Market in the Park at Lewis Kingman Park (2201 E Andy Devine Ave, Kingman) showcases local produce, handmade crafts, and homemade goods from 8 AM to noon.
Art enthusiasts can look forward to Tuesdays from 1 PM to 3 PM, when the Bullhead City Senior Campus hosts its popular “Art Therapy Class.” With new projects each week and limited spots available, early sign-up is recommended.
Special Events
The month kicks off with a bang at the second annual “Chaos On The Colorado River” event, running from August 2-4 at the Anderson Auto Group Fieldhouse in Bullhead City. This three-day extravaganza runs from 10 AM to 4 PM each day and promises excitement for the whole family.
For collectors and firearm enthusiasts, the Lake Havasu Collectibles & Firearms Show takes place on August 3rd from 9 AM to 5 PM at the Lake Havasu City Aquatic Center (100 Park Ave). Admission is $10 per day or $14 for two-day admission, with a $2 discount available for those bringing a flyer.
Music lovers have plenty to look forward to, with concerts peppered throughout the month. Highlights include:
Boss Hectic and Poison Made Sinners at O’Leary’s Pub (1063 Highway 95, Bullhead City) on August 3 at 9 PM
Safety Orange at Sundance Saloon (5920 Riverside Dr, Parker) on August 9 from 7 PM to 11 PM (free entry)
Dry Heat at Los Lagos Golf Club (6365 S. Entrada Via Verdes, Fort Mohave) on August 10 from 6 PM to 10 PM
Comedy fans are in for a treat with multiple events in Lake Havasu City:
The Lighthouse Lounge (317 S Lake Havasu Ave) hosts “Laughs at the Lighthouse” on August 6th from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM (free entry)
Grapes N Grains (2187 McCulloch Blvd N) presents an Improv Comedy Night on August 7th from 6 PM to 9 PM
For those seeking a mix of patriotism and summer fun, don’t miss the “Celebrate the RED, WHITE & BLUE Boat Parade and Beach Party” at Katherine Landing on Lake Mohave Marina on August 17 from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The same day, generous community members can participate in the FREE Drive-Thru Food Distribution in Bullhead City, starting around 7 AM at Food For Families (590 Hancock Rd).
Petrolheads should mark their calendars for August 31, when Mohave Valley Raceway (2750 Laguna Rd, Mohave Valley) hosts a thrilling night of racing, featuring IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and more. Gates open at 6:30 PM with racing starting at 7 PM.
Learning Opportunities
August offers numerous chances to learn new skills:
On August 4 from 3 PM to 7 PM, a concealed carry weapons class will be held at the Herbert J. Haenel VFW Auxiliary (2620 Miracle Mile, Bullhead City). Cost is $20 if prepaid online, $40 at the door.
An epoxy class at La Tea Da’s (1595 Mohave Dr. #7, Bullhead City) on August 15 at 6 PM. Cost is $55.
A kids’ painting class “Daises and Bees” at Beale Street Studios (204 E Beale St, Kingman) on August 23 from 1 PM to 3 PM. Cost is $25 for ages 7-14.
Nature enthusiasts can join a unique “Scorpion Search” night hike at the Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge on August 9th from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. This free, ranger-led event requires pre-registration by calling 928-667-4144 ext. 2.
Business owners can enhance their branding knowledge at the “Dine & Development” event with Ruth Hellams on August 20 at 5 PM. Location: 841 Hancock Rd, Bullhead City. Tickets are $25 and include dinner.
Outdoor Adventures
Water enthusiasts should not miss SoCal Jet Boats’ “One Hot Summer Weekend Event” at Avi Resort & Casino on August 24, starting at 9 AM. The event kicks off with a Show-n-Shine on Friday night (7-10 PM) and continues with a beach gathering on Saturday.
For those who prefer a more relaxed outdoor experience, the Lake Havasu Farmers Market on August 24 offers a perfect morning outing. Located at The KAWS (2144 McCulloch Blvd N, Lake Havasu City) from 8 AM to 12 PM, this bi-monthly market showcases local produce, artisanal foods, and handcrafted items.
