Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Chloride, Arizona
Chloride is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 11th with a free event that includes gunfights, a parade, gold panning, horseshoe tournament, bow and arrow demonstrations, vendors, bake sale, face painting, raffle, live music, antique cars, and more. The annual event honors the Irish miners who worked the dozens of mines around this 1860’s historic silver mining town.
Bake Sale and Raffle
The Chloride Bake Sale, located at the corner of Tennessee and 2nd Street, begins at 9 a.m. Raffle tickets are available with dozens of great prizes this year. You don’t have to be present to win.
Parade and Horseshoe Tournament
Same day sign up for the parade is from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Chloride Town Hall on Payroll Avenue. The Horseshoe Tournament starts at 10 a.m. at the Chloride Park on 2nd Street.
Gunfights, Museum, and More
The High Desert Drifters gunfight troupe will perform at 11 a.m. in Cyanide Springs on Elkhart Avenue. Explore the Jim Fritz Museum and the Playhouse next door. The parade starts at “High Noon” and wanders down Tennessee Avenue. After the parade, the High Desert Drifters will perform shoot-outs again in Cyanide Springs, followed by Wayward Archery team bow and arrow demonstrations.
Awards and Raffle Drawing
The Chloride Town Hall on Payroll Avenue hosts the parade awards at 2 p.m. followed by the drawing of raffle tickets for amazing gifts, including hotel stays, gift certificates, crafts, and unique prizes.
History and Shopping
Stop by the historic jail, train station, and miner’s cabins around town. The Mineshaft Market offers a map of town. The world-famous Roy Purcell Murals and Hualapai Indian petroglyphs are about a mile east of Chloride.
Food and Location
Yesterday’s Steakhouse and Saloon offers dining options, or stop at the food vendors around town. Chloride is 23 miles north of Kingman and 80 miles south of Las Vegas.
