BULLHEAD CITY – Mohave Accelerated Elementary School (MAES) and Mohave Accelerated Learning Center (MALC), public charter schools located in Bullhead City, Arizona, have released their budget documents for the fiscal year 2025. These documents provide a detailed look at how the schools plan to allocate funds to enhance educational services and improve operational efficiency in the coming year.
For fiscal year 2025, the combined budget for MAES and MALC totals $6,917,417. The majority of this funding comes from state contributions, amounting to $4,787,625. Federal funds contribute $616,240, while local revenues add $1,513,552 to the budget. This represents a significant increase of 10.5% from the previous year, highlighting the schools’ commitment to expanding and improving their programs.
A key highlight of the budget is the increase in average teacher salaries. In 2025, the average salary for teachers is projected to be $55,491, up from $53,640 in 2024. This 3.5% raise is aimed at attracting and retaining qualified educators, ensuring that students receive high-quality instruction. Additionally, the budget allocates substantial funds towards various educational programs and support services. Special education programs see a notable increase, with funding rising from $186,636 in 2024 to $255,530 in 2025, reflecting a 36.9% growth. This increase is designed to better support students with disabilities, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and attention.
Pupil transportation services are also set to receive more funding, with an allocation of $164,467 in 2025, up from $121,200 in the prior year. This 35.7% increase aims to enhance accessibility for students with disabilities, ensuring they can attend school safely and reliably. The budget also addresses operational costs, with total expenses for 2025 amounting to $7,839,128. These expenses cover salaries, employee benefits, purchased services, supplies, and other necessary expenditures to maintain the schools’ infrastructure and daily functions.
Classroom Site Projects are prioritized with a budget of $415,566, aimed at creating optimal learning environments for students. This investment ensures that classrooms are well-equipped and conducive to effective teaching and learning. Furthermore, the schools are focusing on instructional improvement by allocating funds to integrate digital shopping experiences and enhance financial stability. In November 2024, MAES and MALC introduced a new mobile app designed to improve student engagement and streamline administrative processes, demonstrating their commitment to modernizing and staying competitive in the educational sector.
The budget also reflects strategic planning to support the schools’ infrastructure and operational needs. Capital acquisitions are planned with a significant increase from $200,000 in 2024 to $1,000,000 in 2025. This 400% increase will fund essential building improvements, equipment upgrades, and other infrastructure projects that are critical for maintaining a safe and effective learning environment.
The proposed budget was officially presented by the Governing Board on June 12, 2024, and is set to be uploaded to the School Finance Budget System on the Arizona Department of Education’s website by June 16, 2024. Stakeholders and the public can review the complete budget by contacting Corrie Ewing at 928-704-9345 or via email at cewing@mohavelearning.org.
As MAES and MALC prepare for the upcoming school year, the detailed budget underscores their dedication to providing quality education and supporting the needs of their students and staff. The strategic financial planning aims to foster a conducive learning environment and address the evolving educational demands of the Bullhead City community. With increased funding for teachers, special education, and transportation, the schools are well-positioned to enhance their educational offerings and ensure that all students have the resources they need to succeed.
