LAKE HAVASU CITY – Kevin McCaan was born in Camp Pendleton, California. He grew up in Orange County and went to high school in Torrance, California. For thirty five years, McCaan worked as a Hotel Renovation Contractor renovating Marriotts and Westins. An avid pool player, McCaan frequently played pool at Mr. Lucky’s Billiards in Torrance. He became friendly with the owner and the two discussed McCaan opening a Mr. Lucky’s Billiards in Lake Havasu.
Enthusiastic about this idea, the owner gave McCaan his blessing on the idea. In 2008, Mr. Lucky’s opened making it the only pool hall in town. The two pool halls are not related but the venue became a well loved hobby for the then owner. Customers enjoyed socializing with him during his visits.
On February 14, 2021, McCaan passed away. He left Mr. Lucky’s Billiards to his fiancée, Sherri Johnston, who is the current owner. They have fourteen pool tables ranging from Diamonds, Murrays, and Olhausens. With a full bar and friendly staff, Mr. Lucky’s also has an outdoor patio, mega touch machines, and a juke box. They are open daily from 11a.m. to 11p.m. It is the home to many pool players of the area as numerous leagues and tournaments take place there.
On Saturday, October 21, locals gathered to celebrate Mr. Lucky’s fifteenth anniversary. It was an exciting evening with live music provided by Crosscut and food was provided by Minor’s Diner.
McCaan’s legacy with Havasu is being kept alive by Robertson who still has lasting memories of the times they shared at Mr. Lucky’s.
“We had been together for twelve years but we knew each other for twenty three. He was my soul mate and an absolutely amazing man. He left everything to me, including the business, and it’s been a tough ride, but I do it all for him,” Robinson said.
Mr. Lucky’s Billiards is located at 3313 Maricopa Avenue in Lake Havasu City. To learn more about Mr. Lucky’s Billiard visit Mr. Lucky’s Billiards & Pub | Lake Havasu City AZ | Facebook
